Please don’t wait until your next appointment; instead, give us a call or text with an in-depth description, and ideally with a picture, of what is going on so we can help you troubleshoot. We will schedule you accordingly to ensure you get the appropriate solution.
When to Seek Emergency Orthodontics
If you or your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, you should immediately call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.
Examples of orthodontic emergencies include minor trauma, bleeding or swelling of the gums, mouth, or face, and moderate pain. For traditional braces, emergencies can include broken brackets, wires, or retainers, loose bands or spacers, and knocked-out teeth or teeth out of position.
If you are experiencing an orthodontic emergency, it is important not to panic. Many issues can be resolved quickly and easily with a phone call or text to your orthodontic office. Other times, it may be necessary to be seen by the next business day to avoid prolonging treatment or causing additional discomfort. Regardless of the situation, you should contact us as soon as possible to determine the best course of action.
